Field Officer (FO)

Field Officers play very important roles at the field level of any MFI.

The FOs are responsible for all day-to-day field all operational aspects including loan appraisal and recovery; they are also responsible for documentation and record keeping of loans, customer service and compliance of rules, regulations and guidelines of MRA, PKSF. In addition FOs are responsible for building a rapport with the community to attract business and assisting with customer relations.

This session is specially designed to provide a clear understanding and overview of the Field Officers’ Roles, responsibilities and duties to the course participants.


Branch Manager

Branch Managers play the most important roles at the field level of any MFI. While the Branch managers are responsible for day-to-day directing all operational aspects including disbursement and recovery; they are also responsible for documentation and record keeping of loans, customer service, human resources, administration and compliance of rules, regulations and guidelines of MRA, PKSF.

It the sole responsibility of a Branch Manager to operate his/her Branch in accordance with the MFI’s objectives including carrying out of all of the functions of a branch office and location, such as overseeing the approval of loans and lines of credit, marketing, building a rapport with the community to attract business and assisting with customer relations.


Branch Accountant

Book keeping and primary accounting records and petty cash imprest management; ... Handling any treasury related activities, and provide technical support in accounting for treasury related instruments and any other accounting requirements as deemed necessary


Back Office Executive (MIS)

MFIs can reach more people in a more economic way by implementing the right management information system (MIS);

While a large number of MFIs are making good use of technology, the majority are facing difficulties in getting the right solution because of:

Insufficient organizational and human capacity;

Unavailability of suitable MIS applications for microfinance;

Diversity in business processes;

Diversity of geography and language;

Unavailability of vendors to implement and support ICT solutions;

High cost of ICT solutions for MFIs.

The back-office MIS is the backbone of any information system solution;

MFIs need to have a strong back-office MIS before attempting to deploy any advanced front-end applications or delivery channels.
